A tunnel has been closed at the Dartford Crossing after an oversized lorry struck crucial pieces of equipment.
The left tunnel, which takes drivers under the River Thames from Kent into Essex, is expected to remain shut throughout Saturday morning.
National Highways said extensive damage had been caused by a lorry that was “over the permissible” entry height on Friday afternoon.
Motorists have been warned to expect delays while repairs on the tunnel take place.
