Katherine Rednall claims seventh World Indoor bowls title

She is the daughter of former England international John Rednall and has been playing the game since the age of five.

Her first world title win came in 2014, and she also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a bronze and team silver at the outdoor World Championship in Australia in 2023.

Rogers, a former junior world champion, was playing in her first final and took the first set 12-7, but could not hold off Rednall’s revival.

“I’m gutted, to be honest. I’m proud of how I played in the first set, I put Katherine under a lot of pressure,” she said.

“Second set, I struggled, the pace changed a little bit. There were a few quick runs on the carpet, but I definitely want to be back and try and win it one day.”

The men’s singles competition has reached the quarter-final stage, with defending champion Jason Banks from Scotland taking on Nick Brett, who won the title in 2016.

The other matches include 2024 winner Stewart Anderson against Darren Burnett, Robert Paxton against Martin Puckett, and Les Gillett taking on Paul Foster.

The final will be played on Sunday afternoon.
