ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico is facing winter storm warnings and advisories, with the heaviest snowfall expected in the southeast, potentially reaching a foot or more.

A weaker weather disturbance from Arizona is moving into New Mexico, possibly bringing light snowfall to Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Socorro and some western areas. Albuquerque could see 1 to 2 inches of snow, with up to four inches in the foothills.

The East Mountains might receive light snow or up to six inches tonight. The eastern half of the state will experience very cold temperatures, dropping to single digits and teens overnight.

Dry weather is expected to return from west to east by Sunday afternoon, with chilly conditions persisting in eastern New Mexico through Monday.

Most areas will experience dry weather from Monday through the upcoming week.
