Wirral Waters’ David Lloyd complex up for approval

Spanning six acres and offering an outdoor pool and padel courts, the scheme would transform a chunk of Bidston Dock that was filled more than 20 years ago.
Wirral Council is expected to approve plans for a 56,000 sq ft David Lloyd health club as part of the evolving Wirral Waters masterplan next week.
Next week its strategic applications sub-committee will run the rule over the plans, which were submitted last April.
David Lloyd Leisure wants to build three tennis courts protected by an enclosed air dome, six canopy-covered padel courts, and an indoor sports hall providing a further two full-size padel courts.
Indoor and outdoor pools have been planned, as well as spa facilities, a gym, and fitness studio spaces.
In addition, the club would add a multi-use court and a ‘battle box’ exercise facility to its external area.
A children’s area with soft play, café and lounge facilities, and a business hub with a terrace round off the proposals.
The plot is in Peel Waters’ Bidston Dock site accessed from Wallasey Bridge Road, part of the Wirral Waters masterplan.
