Watch: Patriots QB Drake Maye rushes for touchdown on Broncos defense

The New England Patriots scored their first touchdown in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game on a six-yard run by quarterback Drake Maye.

Everything started after the defense forced a fumble on Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham, setting the offense up in good field position to get points. The ball was placed in the red zone, and the Patriots capitalized on the field position by tying the game.

Maye surveyed the field quickly when dropping back in the pocket and took off the moment he saw an opening in the middle of the defense. The second-year quarterback’s ability to step up and make plays with his legs has been the key to the Patriots’ offense all season.

It showed up once again on this play.

The play loomed large in a defensive battle between the Patriots and Broncos. Points were hard to come by in the first half, and the touchdown run by Maye got the Patriots back in the fight.
