Jared Verse refrains from giving Seahawks added motivation ahead of NFC Championship

Verse: ‘I’m not supposed to give any bulletin board material’

Jared Verse is the ultimate trash talker for the Los Angeles Rams but as he approaches the end of his second NFL season, he’s maturing before our very eyes. Ahead of the NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks, Verse showed great restraint during his media session after being asked about his rivals.

Specifically, he was asked whether he wanted this rematch with Seattle, knowing it could punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.

Verse looked over at a Rams PR member, turned back to the microphone and sarcastically leaned in to say one word: “Yes.”

After the room burst into laughter, Verse looked over at the PR staffer again and said, “I’m not supposed to give any bulletin board material.”

Ordinarily, Verse might’ve spiced things up and hurled some shots at the team he said he dislikes the most before their pivotal Week 16 game, but seemingly at the request of the Rams, he’s dialed it back.

As a final question, Verse was asked whether his disdain for the Seahawks intensifies with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line. Again, he looked to the side and gave a very mundane, business-like answer.

“The Super Bowl is next if we win,” he said after chuckling.

It probably took a lot of effort for Verse to hold back and not give the Seahawks any added fuel, but it’s applauded – even if it was only at the request of the Rams’ staff.
