Live Updates: Winter Storm Hits Oklahoma; see Tulsa metro impacts

Road conditions across Okmulgee were improving as of 5:30 p.m. Sunday, though drivers are still urged to use caution as temperatures drop overnight.

Highway Conditions

U.S. Highway 75 has been cleared by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. News On 6 crews observed ODOT crews working throughout the day, with traffic moving steadily.

However, road conditions inside the city of Okmulgee remain more challenging. Many streets are still snow-packed, though the snow has remained dry, and crews have not reported widespread driving issues.

As temperatures fall overnight, that snow could refreeze and turn to ice, leading to slick conditions.

Snow Totals And Local Response

Okmulgee County Emergency Management reports the area received about 7.5 inches of snow over the weekend, with minor sleet accumulation. Crews have been working across the city, and some roads — including Gun Club Road — have been largely cleared.

Emergency officials say the weekend has been relatively quiet, with many residents choosing to stay home.

Warming Shelter Open

A warming shelter is open at 302 S. Seminole for anyone in need, including those dealing with frozen pipes or lack of heat. The shelter offers warm meals, showers, and beds.

About 22 people have checked in so far, with seven staying overnight.

The shelter will remain open through Tuesday morning. Organizers say they need volunteers to help greet guests and serve meals. Anyone interested can call Rose at 918-313-7437.

What Drivers Should Know

While Highway 75 is clear, some snow has been pushed into medians, making crossing difficult in certain areas.

The Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office asks residents to remain patient, noting response times may be slower as deputies focus on emergency calls. Officials continue to urge people to stay home if possible.
