What are the snow totals in Binghamton, Southern Tier? Use this map

The biggest snowstorm of the season arrived Sunday and dumped significant snowfall on the Southern Tier, prompting travel advisories and state of emergency declarations, some countywide, followed by a slew of school cancellations and delays on Monday.

The heavy snows were combined with frigid temperatures, making for a challenging one-two punch.

“This is certainly the coldest weather we’ve seen, the coldest winter storm we’ve seen in years — and truly New York State is locked into a grip here,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in remarks at the State Emergency Operations Center. “A sort of an Arctic siege has taken over our state and many other states across the nation.

“We are anticipating the longest cold stretch and the highest snow totals the state has seen in several years.”

The snow isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, either. The National Weather Service forecasts that temperatures will remain low throughout the week, with highs in the teens until Sunday, when temps are projected to rise into the low 20s.
