Coventry City continued to support Jamie Allen today as Frank Lampard and some of his close team-mates attended a close family funeral.
Sky Blues assistant head coach Joe Edwards took charge at Ryton and stepped in to take media duties at the club’s pre-match press conference ahead of Monday’s trip to Norwich.
The 39-year-old explained: “Jamie’s got a family funeral today. It was obviously documented a few weeks ago when he missed the Birmingham game following a tragic loss, so it’s a difficult day for Jamie and his family and Frank and a few of the players – a few of Jamie’s close team-mates – have gone to show their support, which everyone has tried to do since then.

“We’ve spoken a lot about the togetherness in our squad this season and we’ve had a lot of good times, but in tough times I think that’s even more important.”
Clearly emotional talking about the subject, the first team coach added: “It’s difficult to speak about even now, obviously with the how everyone feels about Jamie. Everyone’s seen the effect it’s had and it’s been tough, and as I said, he’ll continue to get to support that he needs from all of us.”
