The Toronto Raptors rookie has been selected to the Rising Stars game in Los Angeles, the league announced on Monday.
Murray-Boyles, this year’s ninth overall pick, has been a steady contributor for the 29-19 Raptors, with averages of 7.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.9 steals on 53.6/34.9/64.2 per cent shooting splits through 37 games.
He’s second among rookies in average offensive rebounds (2.5), fifth in screen assists and ranks top 10 in total rebounds, steals and blocks per game. The 20-year-old has also started 13 games for Toronto, increasing his averages to 9.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals in that span.
Arguably, his best game of the season came on Jan. 11, when the rookie put up 17 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks in an overtime win against the 76ers. His two double-doubles this season are the seventh-most among rookies.
Murray-Boyles will join a pool of rookies that also includes top five picks Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks), Dylan Harper (San Antonio Spurs), VJ Edgecombe (Philadelphia 76ers) and Kon Knueppel (Charlotte Hornets).
He’s the 10th Raptors rookie to make the Rising Stars game and first since Scottie Barnes in 2022. Precious Achiuwa (2022), Barnes (2023), and Gradey Dick (2025) have made the game in recent years as sophomores.
The rookie forward will also be joined by one of his teammates, Alijah Martin, who was selected to the G League player pool for the Rising Stars game. Through 21 games with the Raptors 905, Toronto’s affiliate team, the freshman guard has averaged 18.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 39.2 per cent from distance.
Martin has helped the 905 to a sterling 10-3 start in the regular season, after they went a historic 14-0 in the Tip-Off Tournament to earn the No. 1 seed. The 24-year-old has also made 10 NBA appearances this season, averaging 3.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 8.8 minutes per game.
The Rising Stars game takes place on Friday, Feb. 13. Honorary coaches Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter will draft their teams for the mini-tournament format from a pool of 21 rookies and sophomores on Tuesday, while former NBA player Austin Rivers will serve as honorary coach of the G League team.
