New Docuseries Uncovers ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Scandals

It’s not déjà vu; you’re still in the running to become America’s Next Traumatized Model. More than 20 years after the show first premiered, Netflix is looking back on all of the outfits, drama, and tears from America’s Next Top Model in a new documentary. “I haven’t really said much, but now it’s time,” creator Tyra Banks began. In the new trailer, we walk through how the extremely popular show really affected those behind the scenes, including former contestants, from invasive dental procedures to sexual harassment during photoshoots. “Tyra would do anything for the success of her show,” creative director Jay Manuel explained as the clips grew more intense, with a contestant fainting and another falling off the runway after being hit by a swinging pendulum. “It was very, very intense, but you guys kept demanding it, so we kept pushing more, more, and more,” Banks claimed, with some fans wondering why the audience was to blame for the actions on the show.

Directed by Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan, the three-part docuseries Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model arrives on February 16.
