Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of Alaves winger Carlos Vicente.
The 26-year-old is expected to travel to England today (Monday) and Birmingham are hoping to wrap up the deal in the next 24 hours.
Sources briefed discussions, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, indicated the deal was expected to be concluded for a fee in the region of €8million.
Birmingham’s aggressive pursuit for new players in this window means they are expected to send Lewis Koumas back to Liverpool early.
The 20-year-old joined on a season long loan with a break clause this month that was recently extended until the end of the window.

A number of clubs in the Championship are interested in taking him on loan for the second half of the season.
Koumas has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Birmingham, scoring once, but has started just seven times in the Championship.
Vicente, meanwhile, would join a club who still have hopes of achieving promotion to the Premier League this season. Birmingham are 13th in the Championship, five points off the play-offs, after winning promotion from League One last term.
Vicente has provided 10 goals and three assists in 25 appearances in all competitions this season.
He joined Alaves from Racing Ferrol in 2024 and has made 85 appearances, scoring 17 goals.
Birmingham return to action against Oxford United on Saturday.
