Will schools reopen Wednesday? North Texas districts announce plans

With frigid weather predicted to persist into the middle of the week and roads thawing slowly, North Texas school districts, including Fort Worth and Denton, began announcing closures for Wednesday.

Most school districts and colleges either canceled classes or shifted them online Monday and Tuesday, as roads remained slippery. Most interstates and highways had several lanes cleared, according to Texas Department of Transportation’s cameras. On most neighborhood streets, ice and snow remained a hazard.

While temperatures are expected to dip back into the low 20s overnight, potentially creating icy conditions Wednesday morning.
