Shoppers are being advised to inspect their kitchen appliances and cupboards following the recall of several items from UK supermarkets. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) withdraws products for various reasons, including when items contain allergens that aren’t disclosed on the packaging or if a problem is identified with the product.

When a product is withdrawn, for any reason, the FSA publishes details on what you should do if you’ve purchased the item, along with comprehensive information on why the product has been removed from sale. Amongst the latest product withdrawals are desserts, snacks and air fryers, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Customers are typically advised to return the product to the shop and receive a full refund, with no receipt required. We’ve compiled the recent product recalls from supermarkets.

Asda

Gü Indulgent Foods is recalling Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake because it has been mispacked with a cheesecake that contains hazelnuts. Gü products are stocked in supermarkets throughout the UK, including Asda, reports the Liverpool Echo.

– Product name: Gü Blonde Chocolate Cheesecake.

– Pack size: 2 x 82g.

– Batch code: 226044.

– Use by date: March 12 2026.

The potential presence of hazelnuts makes it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to hazelnuts. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) stated: “If you have bought the product and have an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt required. For more information, please contact [email protected]” Gü Indulgent Foods has been advised to reach out to the appropriate allergy support organisations, who will inform their members about the product recall.

Farmfoods

Farmfoods is recalling its Ritz Cheese Sandwich product as it contains milk, soya and wheat (gluten), which are not clearly highlighted on the label. This recall only affects products originating from Indonesia, and does not impact products originating from other countries.

The Food Standards Agency stated: “If you have bought this product, and have an allergy or intolerance to any of the allergens listed, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from which you bought the product for a full refund. For further information contact the Farmfoods Customer Services on 0121 700 7160.”

Farmfoods commented: “We take consumer safety very seriously and sincerely apologise to our loyal customers for this situation and any inconvenience it may have caused.”

The ingredients not clearly labelled means the product poses a “health risk” to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk, an allergy to soya or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease.

Several retailers are issuing recalls for certain models of Tower air fryers. The affected products were manufactured between January 2022 and April 2023, and have been sold by various retailers including Argos, BandM Bargains, DID, Poundland, Robert Dyas, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and the Tower Housewares website.

The product poses a fire risk as it can overheat and ignite during use, failing to meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
