Insider Thinks There Has Been a Shift in Top 2 Candidates for the Raiders’ HC Job

The Raiders are getting down to decision time on their next head coach and there are a few different opinions making rounds about who should be considered the favorite for the job.

Davis Webb seemed to pick up some momentum on Monday and according to California Post insider Vinny Bonsignore, Webb is one of the two finalists for the job from his perspective.

“Klint Kubiak has not come in for a second interview. Unless we hear at some point that he’s agreed to come in here for a second interview, I think for right now you almost have to remove him from consideration,” Bonsignore said on Raider Nation Radio’s Morning Tailgate.

“It sounds like [Kubiak] is going to stay in Seattle and that’s a great decision for him and it will make him even more marketable… I feel like it’s a two-horse race at this point and my own opinion on this is that one is an extremely easy and positive sell in Davis Webb with the fan base and I think the fans [would] get behind him…”

The other top candidate, according to Bonsignore, is former Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who has a known connection to Tom Brady. Daboll has been floated around as a possible offensive coordinator in Las Vegas, but it sounds like he has wiggled into serious consideration to be the next head coach.

Aside from Bonsignore’s comments on Kubiak, ESPN’s Adam Schefter has been slow to throw Kubiak’s name out as a candidate for the Raiders’ job so it could be that Kubiak is falling down the list in Las Vegas.

If it’s between Webb and Daboll, there has been more smoke around Webb as a candidate, but it is rumored that Daboll interviewed well with the Raiders this week.

Schefter said on Monday he expects the NFL’s coaching vacancies to be sorted out by Wednesday, so there’s a chance we’ll know which coach the Raiders settle on in the next 24 hours.
