Noah Kahan Officially Announces New Album, ‘The Great Divide’

After the best part of four years, Noah Kahan is back with a brand new album, The Great Divide. The eagerly anticipated project is set to arrive everywhere on Friday, April 24th 2026.

Via a social media post, Kahan has shared the release date and the nostalgic album artwork, which puts the viewer in the position of someone looking through an old window pane at two small children playing, hinting at a narrative from the record.

In the caption, the ‘Stick Season’ chart-topper offers a poetic encapsulation of what fans can expect from the album, which is named after the lead single, ‘The Great Divide’. The track drops on Friday, January 30th, following years of teasers and snippets.

Kahana wistfully reflects on the inspiration behind the project, “From a long silence forms a divide, a great expanse demanding attention. I stare across it. I see old friends, my father, my mother, my siblings, my younger self, the great state of Vermont. I want to scream these feelings, to gesticulate wildly at the figures on the other side, but my voice has grown hoarse and muted after years of climbing a ladder towards the wild, spiraling dreams that have materialized in front of me”.

The folk titan expands, “Instead, I wrote them down next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, on a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee. The songs are the words I would say if I could”.

The ‘Orange Juice’ singer-songwriter concludes, “They are the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep. The music here is my best attempt to delve deeper into the people, places, and feelings that have made me who I am. I am grateful for all of it, for all of you, for listening to them, if you choose to do so”.

Via Kahan’s official website, there are two vinyl variants of The Great Divide available – a seemingly country-infused American Rust and a stark, black-and-yellow Headlights in the Dark limited edition. Additionally, there is a Translucent Morning Fog vinyl exclusively available at Target stores, featuring two bonus Live from Fenway tracks, along with a Translucent Beer Bottle vinyl, available exclusively from indie record stores. There is also a standard CD option on-sale at all major retailers.

In the description of the vinyls and CDs on the site, Kahan’s fourth album is described as, “A reflection on Noah’s past, his now-complicated relationship to family, friends, his native Vermont, as well as the disconnect and distance that silence and unspoken truths create between people”, with production coming from the ‘Homesick’ crooner’s longstanding collaborator, Gabe Simon, and Aaron Dessner. Dessner has racked up a slew of impressive credits for artists such as Taylor Swift.

The exciting announcement comes after a string of social media easter eggs and cryptic clues from Kahan, with the ‘Dial Drunk’ hitmaker even starting a secret TikTok account titled “@thelastofthebugs” to tease the album’s impending unveiling.

Now, we’ve got the news we’ve been waiting for, with Kahan’s new project being given a name and a release date. The arrival of the title-track this Friday (January 30th), will keep the anticipation sky-high, and with Kahan teasing there’s “lots” more to come after ‘The Great Divide’, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for that rumoured 2027 stadium tour reveal, following an apparent leak earlier in the week.
