Australian Open 2026 Results, Wednesday’s Bracket Winners, Losers and Highlights

No. 2 Jannik Sinner def. No. 8 Ben Shelton, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4
No. 4 Novak Djokovic def. No. 5 Lorenzo Musetti, 4-6, 3-6, 3-1 (retired)
Jannik Sinner continued his tear through the men’s singles bracket with a straight-set win over Ben Shelton.
Sinner, the two-time reigning champion in Melbourne, turned away any threats posed by the last remaining American man in the bracket.
Sinner’s lost a single set this year in Melbourne. A year ago, he only fell in two sets on his way to the title.
The next two matches will be the hardest for the Italian, as he faces Novak Djokovic and then either Carlos Alcaraz or Alexander Zverev.
Djokovic advanced to the semifinals in a rare way on Wednesday. The No. 4 seed fell behind by two sets to No. 5 seed Lorenzo Musetti, but the Italian was forced to retire from the match due to an injury in the third set.
Djokovic admitted after the match that Musetti was the better player on the day.
The 10-time Australian Open champion is still alive in the tournament. He’ll have to likely beat Sinner and Alcaraz to claim his record 25th Grand Slam title.
