50p coin among UK’s most valuable sells for 166x its face value in Worcester

Someone in Worcester sold one of the UK’s most valuable 50p coins and got more than 166x its face value on eBay this month.
The coin in question was minted in 2009 and depicts the Chinese pagoda at Kew Gardens in London.
Kew Gardens has “over 50,000 living plants”, and it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Royal Mint describes this 50p coin as one “collectors go crazy for”, adding: “Nothing gets people excited quite like this original 2009 design.
“Just 210,000 were released into circulation and with almost all of them in private hands, the chances of coming across one in your change are slim.”
The seller from Worcester sold the coin for an impressive £83.08 on eBay.
