Gas leak shuts down Santa Rosa Avenue south of city limits

Residents and business owners have been ordered to shelter in place due to a gas leak that’s shut down a portion of Santa Rosa Avenue Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 28.

The closure covers about a half mile on Santa Rosa Avenue between Todd Road and Mountain View Avenue, said Karen Hancock, community outreach specialist for the Sonoma County Fire District.

Activity is in response to multiple calls reporting the smell of gas beginning about 2:50 p.m., she said. As of 4 p.m., no one has required medical assistance.

The public is advised to avoid the area.

This is a developing story.
