‘Enjoy your flight’: Ugly scenes as Aussie tears shreds off rival after junior doubles win

Things got extremely heated at the end of the Australian Open doubles quarter finals juniors clash on 1573 Arena on Thursday afternoon.

The Australian pair of Ymerali Ibraimi and Cooper Kose defeated Colombia’s Juan Miguel Bolivar Idarraga and USA’s Vihaan Reddy in straight sets.

Upon securing the win, the Aussies were immediately vocal in the celebrations.

The juniors all shook hands after the 6-2, 6-4 result, but something said by either Bolivar Idarraga or Reddy at the net angered Ibraimi.

He snapped, yelling and pointing at the defeated pair.

“Who’s a clown?” Ibraimi can be overheard saying.

“Leave it, leave it,” his partner Kose interjects.

Ibraimi then approached their bench and added: “Enjoy your flight back to Colombia, alright. How you disrespected me … you never do that to me ever again.”

The chair umpire half-heartedly attempted to get between Ibraimi and Bolivar Idarraga, but the Aussie wasn’t done.

“You know what you did (during the match),” Ibraimi continued.

“All those crappy underarm serves. I dare you try to do that to me again.

“Enjoy your time in the locker room, loser.”

Kose appeared bemused by it all as the pair left the court.

Ibraimi, a Victorian-born player, is 16 and ranked 169th in the International Tennis Federation.

The pair will now face Japan’s Kanta Watanabe and Hyu Kawanishi for a spot in the junior doubles finals.
