Jason Day issues a warning for anyone starting a YouTube golf channel

Jason Day is among the many professional golfers to have major success with their YouTube channel.
The popular Aussie’s channel, called The Lads, has amassed over 150,000 subscribers, and features some of the best players in golf such as Min Woo Lee and Nelly Korda.

This is part of a growing trend of professional players entering the content sphere. Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, and Tommy Fleetwood each have highly successful YouTube channels.
It seems like a great way to grow an audience and make some extra money on the side, but Day issued a warning to any of his competitors considering doing the same.

Jason Day’s warning to players starting a YouTube channel
While it may look easy for players to start up a camera and film some matches, according to Day, it’s not so simple.
Speaking to Dan Rapaport, he gave a warning to anyone hoping to follow him into the world of content creation: “I must admit, if any tour players are going to watch this video, it is a lot of work to do a YouTube channel. Because you have to be consistent about it.

“So if you’re planning on releasing a video every week, that means you’re doing a video every week, which is a lot of work. Based on trying to play competitive golf as well.”
It must be hard to find the time and motivation to film consistently for YouTube, especially when you’re flying all over the country for the PGA Tour. If it were easy, everyone would do it!
Jason Day set for successful 2026 season
As we enter the 2026 PGA Tour season, there is a palpable sense of renewed optimism surrounding Day. The 38-year-old seems to be rounding back into the form that made him a major winner.
He started 2026 with an exceptional T2 finish at The American Express, behind only Scottie Scheffler. His performance on the greens brought him right into contention, as he finished the week leading in Strokes Gained on the greens.

He’s been experimenting with his equipment and his swing, and seems to have found the right mix for him, which is producing consistent results with his iron play, especially.
So as Day plays at Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open, he carries both momentum and a solid swing into the tournament.
Don’t be surprised to see him in contention.
