Video: Khamzat Chimaev confronts fighter after near brawl with teammate

Khamzat Chimaev is staying busy even without a fight on the horizon.
At a Fitbox Fighting Championship press conference in Oman on Thursday, a brawl nearly broke out between Chimaev’s friend and teammate Dzhokhar Dushuev and upcoming opponent Anthony Zeidan. After the fighters were separated, Chimaev walked up to Zeidan and appeared to admonish him for his actions.
Fortunately for everyone involved, there was no further physicality as Zeidan appeared to remain calm as Chimaev spoke to him. There were also several people surrounding Chimaev and Zeidan to ensure that the incident wouldn’t escalate.
Dzhokhar and Zeidan meet in the welterweight main event of FFC 5 this Friday at Oman Automobile Association in Muscat, Oman.
Chimaev is no stranger to outside-of-the-cage confrontations. This past November, the UFC middleweight champion shoved welterweight contender Ian Machado Garry during a backstage altercation at UFC Qatar.
Since winning the belt with a dominant decision victory over Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 in August, Chimaev has waited for his first title defense to get booked and he also flirted with a move up to light heavyweight to chase a second title in a potential showdown against Alex Pereira.
