All episodes of Marvel’s new series are now streaming on Disney+, and everyone can’t stop raving about Wonder Man. The new Yahya Abdul-Mateen II-led series got off to a great start earlier this week by earning a Certified Fresh 90% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This also comes from 68 reviews, so it certainly is a large enough sample size to be meaningful. All episodes of Wonder Man aired on Disney+ last night, and the show has already received a strong 89% mark from audiences on the Popcornmeter. 90% scores from critics and 89% from audiences are enough to make it one of Marvel’s highest-rated shows ever.
Wonder Man follows aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), who is thrust into a world of superheroes at the same time that he gets powers of his own. While he comes into his own as the superhero Wonder Man, he’s also working to carve out a career for himself in a Hollywood world that grows increasingly less tolerant of superpowered individuals. The show also stars Ben Kingsley, and it was written and created for TV by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked on Shang-Chi for Marvel. He’s even directing this summer’s new Spider-Man movie.
It’s been a big few days for Marvel fans, who were also just treated to the new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again, which will premiere at the end of March. It’s been confirmed that a Punisher special focused on Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle will also be released on Disney+ sometime around Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, but it’s still lacking an official release date or any promotional material.
Marvel’s Biggest Project in Years Comes in December
Marvel Studios is saving its biggest project of the year for the end of the year, when it will release Avengers: Doomsday on December 18. The film was previously scheduled to premiere in May before being delayed to give the post-production team extra time for polishing. The film will see the return of tenured MCU veterans like Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, and it will also star Robert Downey Jr. as the new Infinity Saga feature villain, Doctor Doom. It’s unclear at this time if Wonder Man will have any part to play in the 2026 MCU event film.
