BART shut down at West Oakland station after fatality reported, fire department says; No Green or Red line service

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) — BART service has shut down at West Oakland station after authorities responded to reports of a fatality on Friday.

BART officials said there was a major delay at West Oakland in all directions due to a “major medical emergency.”

Oakland Fire Department confirmed with ABC7 that the body of a female victim was being extracted at the station’s platform.

The transit agency said trains are not stopping at West Oakland and the station is currently closed. There is also no Green or Red Line service at this time.

Details on the victim or their cause of death has not been released by officials at this time.
