Catherine O’Hara, comedy star with a flair for improv, dies at 71

Catherine O’Hara, the Canadian-born actress and comedian who could be deliciously silly or endearingly offbeat, appearing in movies such as “Beetlejuice” and “Home Alone” before reaching a new generation of fans as the narcissistic matriarch on “Schitt’s Creek,” died Jan. 30 at her home in Los Angeles. She was 71.
Creative Artists Agency, which represented her, said in a statement that she died “following a brief illness” but did not provide additional details.
