Jacob Widell Zetterstrom has three clubs reportedly “asking for a price” after the Derby County goalkeeper starred in Sweden’s World Cup draw with Japan.
Zetterstrom made his bow in the tournament last night and produced a wonderful first-half save that drew praise from Sweden and AC Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Sweden boss Graham Potter also praised Zetterstrom’s performance after which transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said a trio of clubs are interested in the 27-year-old.
Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolves and Leeds United are all said to be interested in the former Djurgarden stopper who has proven to be a brilliant signing for Derby after arriving in the summer of 2024.
The goalkeeper’s stock continues to rise as a result of his performances in the Championship and with his country, that interest is inevitable.
Wolves had previously scouted Zetterstrom before his move to Derby from Djurgarden two years ago, but the Rams moved quickly to sign him to replace the outgoing Joe Wildsmith in a deal worth £.1.4m.
Since then, Zetterstrom has become first-choice at Derby and has produced a string of fine performances with his display in a 3-2 win at QPR at the back end of last season, being the pick of the bunch.
Although he did miss a considerable chunk of the season due to a virus, the aftermath of which kept him out from January to April, he was still called up to the World Cup squad by Potter.
While Kristoffer Nordfeldt took the number one position for Sweden’s opening group games, Zetterstrom took his place last night.
Sweden’s draw means they now enter the knockout phase.
