The “Manchild” singer and multiple nominee went for a softer, more demure style than we’ve come to expect from her. It’s borderline twee and it kind of looks like something that would have been worn in the ’80s (which is absolutely not a mark against it). We like the little sheer capelet. We don’t like the over-ruffled tiered skirt, which is giving bedspread.

The “Midnight Sun” singer and Best Dance Pop Recording nominee opted for a more tropically inspired look than we’re used to seeing on the red carpet. If we’re being honest, it looks a little tacky to us, but that gold really pops on her and as we said in the intro, you’ve got to adjust your expectations here. She looks hot. The skirt’s legitimately pretty. She also sort of looks like the hostess at a tropical-themed resort bar, so there’s that.

Rosé in Saint Laurent

Look, we’re all for a dress with pockets, but there’s such a thing as taking it too far. The “APT.” singer and Song of the Year nominee looked super-cute in her little black dress. Evidently she had some laundry to drop off on the way? Sorry, but those saddle bags are way too out of proportion with the rest of the design, which is a shame because it would work if they were reduced by about 50 percent.

REI AMI in Guvanch, EJAE in Dior, Audrey Nuna in Thom Browne

The KPop Demon Hunters vocal stars, “Golden” singers, and Song of the Year nominees—also known as HUNTR/X—stood out because each member of the group was given space to interpret the moment in their own way, but the sum of the parts still feels coordinated. REI AMI went for fantasy fashion by Korean designer Guvanch. EJAE went in about as classic a direction as you can go in Dior. And Audrey Nuna turned to Thom Browne to give her an eye-poppingly weird, glitchy sort of look.

The “Undressed” singer and Best New Artist nominee is upholding the long musical tradition of a pretty man with great working a little disco ball action. What we love about the suit, aside from all the sparkle, are the touches of red throughout the sequins. We’d say you can’t go wrong with a silver lace shirt from Valentino, but let’s face it: He was made for this look. Love that keyhole. Less in love with the shoes.

Chappell Roan in Mugler

The Best Pop Solo nominee for “The Subway” opted to keep things simple this time around, without sacrificing her signature outrageous or ability to turn heads. This is minimalism, Chappell-style. We weren’t crazy about this at first glance, if only because the design seemed basic and the dress matched her hair, but the longer we take it in, the more we like how dramatic it is. It works best when she’s working the cape, but we think it should have a few more inches on the hem.

Bad Bunny in Schiaparelli Couture

He’s about to drive half the country insane with his Super Bowl halftime show and he’s the first man to ever wear Schiaparelli Couture. We have no choice but to swoon. While it might seem surprising to see the “DtMF” singer and multiple Grammy winner in a relatively conventional velvet tuxedo, we gasped out loud when we saw the corseted back. Now that’s hot.

We’ve always loved the quiet defiance of Billie Eilish’s public style—the ways that she flouts conventionality or upends the expectations for young female pop stars. But the “Wildflower” singer and Song of the Year winner looks overwhelmed by everything that’s going on with this look. We get that’s a deconstructed take on mostly menswear style tropes, but girl, those are way too many sleeves and belts for one look.

Olivia Dean in Chanel

The “Man I Need” singer and Best New Artist winner went for a classic elegance in a Chanel gown that should be an easy win for her, but the design lets her down. The skirt sits too low on her and the feather embellishments are poorly placed at the waist. The bodice looks like a body suit, which doesn’t work well with a ballgown-style skirt. Basically, the top and the bottom of this design aren’t speaking to each other.

The “Illegal” singer and Best Dance Pop Recording nominee went for a deconstructed sort of elegance. While the design is a little overwrought and could use some editing, the colors look gorgeous on her and the styling really elevates it.

The “Emerald City” singer and Best Contemporary Country Album nominee observed an old standby of awards show fashion: It’s never a bad idea to come dressed like a trophy yourself. This heavily embellished gold gown looks stunning on her. It helps that the fit is sleek, so she doesn’t look overwhelmed or weighed down by it. The equally sleek hair was a good choice. We like that it has a paisley design, which gives it a vaguely boho feel while still being incredibly glam.

The Lady came to serve up a little black swan mayhem on the red carpet. You always know you’re going to get drama when Lady Gaga’s on the guest list, but we’re somewhat pleasantly surprised by how low-key this is—for Lady Gaga, of course. This would be outrageous on almost anyone else. She looks gorgeous and she’s delivering just about as classic a diva fashion moment as you’ll ever see.

Lavender eyeshadow matched to your lavender dress is a little fashion doll, we’re afraid. The Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album winner opted for pastel-hued sparkle, but we just don’t love the design. The neckline is too broad and the bust is poorly fitted to her. The placement of the embellishments is weirdly distracting. There’s just too much stuff on this dress and it feels haphazardly placed.

We have bad news for the “Anxiety” singer and Record of the Year nominee. That may be a custom Roberto Cavalli you’ve got on, but we’re afraid it’s kind of hideous. The colors are garish. That’s way too much purple satin for one person to handle. We don’t mind that the bust is sheer, but the flimsiness of it looks so wrong with the rest of the dress. We get that the name of the game is often to be outrageous, but this is an ugly dress.

It just looks like something you’d see hanging in a shower. Granted, we tend to hate all of these heavily feathered gowns that keep popping up, but this one is just too much. It’s a pile. It’s…Muppet-y. If it had a little shape or contrast to it, we might like it, but it’s big and shapeless.

The “Gabriela” singers and Best New Artist nominees have routinely coordinated their looks on perfect girl group style, so it makes sense to take this whole set of designs together. It’s striking to see a series of matching white lace dresses on the red carpet that don’t come off remotely bridal. Unfortunately, all of that white lace looks a little gaudy to our eyes. The shimmery dresses come off a little better, but as a group, they look like lingerie models…for a not very high-end brand.

We kept coming back to this one for its quiet elegance, which is not something you see a lot of on a Grammys red carpet. We like the combination of shine and shimmer along with the dramatically corseted silhouette. It’s probably a little too heavily embellished for our tastes, but her poise and her styling are so flawless that it doesn’t matter.

We don’t know what’s weirder: the crazy amount of stuff and flair she’s got all over that jacket or the ’90s office manager pants and slingbacks she’s sporting down below. It’s such an odd look. The Best Pop Vocal Album nominee always had a quirky sort of throwback-tinged style, but this honestly looks like an outfit better suited to a 70-year-old.

The One Battle After Another star and current Best Supporting Actress nominee arrived late to the red carpet, but that only makes sense because she was obviously there to shut it down. Nobody campaigns for an Oscar like this lady does, and nobody serves body on a red carpet as fabulously and fiercely as she does. This is fashion at this highest possible difficulty setting and she makes it look easy.

The “Daisies” singer and multiple nominee showed up in a stripped-back, grown-up minimalism that suits him very well. The roomy fit looks great on him, but we’d have liked a less dainty shoe choice. Hailey, meanwhile, is making her own minimalism look like a million bucks. The coordinated jewelry is a subtly nice touch. They look confident, relaxed, and sophisticated.
