Midlothian Greggs taped off and doors smashed after early morning incident

A Midlothian man was arrested after a Greggs was allegedly broken into. Police were called to the chain’s outlet on the High Street in Bonnyrigg at around 2.40am on Monday morning.
Officers arrested a 23-year-old man and charged him in connection with a break-in and theft. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sherriff Court on Tuesday, February 3.
Images from the store show one of the glass doors completely smashed, with police tape around the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40am on Monday, 2 February, 2026, we received a report of a break-in to and theft from a premises on High Street, Bonnyrigg.
“A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sherriff Court on Tuesday, 3 February 2026.”
