Students throughout much of the Avalon and central regions of Newfoundland will be delayed going to school on Tuesday, as the province digs out from an overnight storm.
More than 40 cm of snow fell in the capital city and winds whipped upwards of 100 km/hr overnight, leaving a heavy mess for residents in the morning.
Streets were lined with snow piled high at the ends of driveways — a shared misery for residents to deal with first thing in the morning.
Avalon schools are delayed opening by three hours, while some schools in the central zone are delayed by two hours.
Schools were closed all together on Monday, as whiteout conditions persisted throughout the morning.
Provincial government offices will also be delayed opening until 10:30, except for those employees who have been notified to come into work.
