Drake Maye shares thoughts on Bad Bunny as Super Bowl 60 halftime performer

SAN JOSE, Calif. — While Drake Maye is one of the stars of Super Bowl 60, at halftime he’ll pass that baton to Bad Bunny.

The musical artist from Puerto Rico has been a polarizing selection in some circles as the halftime performer, but he has a supporter in Maye, who enjoyed watching him act in Happy Gilmore 2.

“I saw him in the Adam Sandler movie,” Maye said at Super Bowl Media Night. “I know Bad Bunny. I know he’s a big-time artist and I’m a big fan of him. Obviously he sings in a different language. I can’t sing, but I’m a fan of Bad Bunny.”

At the 68th Grammy Awards on Sunday, Bad Bunny won the Album of the Year Award for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.“ At his Super Bowl press conference on Monday, Roger Goodell was asked whether he anticipated any political statements in the halftime show.

“Listen, Bad Bunny is – and I think that was demonstrated last night – one of the great artists in the world, and that’s one of the reasons we chose him,” Goodell said (via CNN). “But the other reason is he understood the platform he was on, and that this platform is used to unite people, and to be able to bring people together with their creativity, with their talents, and to be able to use this moment to do that. And I think artists in the past have done that. I think Bad Bunny understands that, and I think he’ll have a great performance.”

Super Bowl LX will air on Sunday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC. Viewers can stream the game for free through DirecTV, which offers a free trial to new users. Peacock and Sling are other options for streaming the game and Peacock starts at just $10.99 a month.
