SIX at Gateshead’s Baltic announces immediate closure

A restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide has announced its immediate closure, blaming increasing costs.

SIX opened on the top floor of Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, in Gateshead, in 2009 and was acquired by the Middlesbrough-based Pneuma Group in 2023.

In a statement, the restaurant said it had “faced difficult trading conditions, a tough economic climate and losses over a sustained period”.

Baltic said SIX was operated independently from the art gallery and Pneuma Group made the commercial decision to close the restaurant.
