The Boston Celtics have long had a commitment to better their local community through investing in people, and this week was no different per a release circulated by the storied ball club. Per the Celtics, the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation (BCSF), Boston Medical Center, and Tufts Health Plan invited local families this past Saturday (Jan. 31) for fun and support at the Curbside Care Celebration at the Little Cocoa Bean Tot Cafe in Boston.
According to the team, Tufts Health Plan, an associate of Point32Health (the sole Health Benefits Provider of the Celtics), was announced as the new presenting partner of Curbside Care, with Celtics guard Derrick White also taking part in the event.

“My wife was pregnant when I first got introduced to the program, so that’s originally what drew me to it,” related White.

“It’s been great to be a part of it for years now and I didn’t even know something like this could be possible,” he added. “Just learning more about what they do and seeing why it’s necessary has been cool to be a part of.”
“Participants rotated through interactive food preparation challenges centered around real-life family nutrition needs, using kid-friendly, health-conscious, culturally inclusive ingredients. Additionally, guests received certain childcare necessities … This event is intended to bring together families to celebrate the Curbside Care program and the positive impact it has had on local communities,” notes the release.

“The program includes a life-saving mobile maternal and infant health unit that treats more than forty postpartum patients and their newborns per week in an effort to reduce the barriers to high-quality perinatal care for families in marginalized communities throughout the city of Boston.”
