Crews extinguish house fire on S. Henderson Ave. in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Cape Girardeau Fire Department put out a fire at an unoccupied home, Tuesday afternoon.
It happened at around 4:15 p.m. on February 3 at 109 S. Henderson Avenue.
According to the fire department, firefighters arrived to find fire on the third floor of the home, with more flames coming into the roof area.
The crew searched the home, but found nobody inside.
Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes of arriving, but stayed at the scene for about an hour to make sure all the hotspots were extinguished.
The fire department said damage was primarily found within the second and third-floor walls, as well as the roof area.
No injuries were reported, but there was extensive damage. The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional.
