A Leicester mum died after she suffered a heart attack at work.

Jodie Green, from Braunstone, was at work at Next in Enderby when she fell ill on Wednesday, January 7.

The “devoted” mum and partner was surrounded by her colleagues in the nursery who administered CPR until the emergency services arrived.

The 35-year-old was admitted to Glenfield Hospital, but after 12 days on life support, the decision was made by the consultants to turn off her life support due to the severe brain damage she suffered, with a zero per cent chance of survival.

Despite her life support being turned off, Jodie continued to fight for a further five days, with her partner James and all of her family by her side.

She died at 1.45pm on Saturday, January 24.

Jodie’s sister Emma said: “Her bubbly, loving character and contagious smile will be sadly missed by everyone she came into contact with.”

Speaking about her time in hospital, Jodie’s sister Emma said: “The fantastic effort of the nursery staff gave us all 17 more days with our beloved Jodie, giving her every chance possible and being able to surround her with love.

“Jodie, being Jodie, was a registered organ donor, which was wonderful to learn and did not come as a surprise due to her caring personality.”

Speaking about what her sister loved to do most, Emma said: “She loved her job as a nursery nurse working with preschool age and loved reading stories, Julia Donaldson being the utmost favourite, to her son and others.

“We read her many books at her bedside, and she passed away listening to her mum read The Gruffalo to her for the 1000th time.”

“She loved adventure in the great outdoors, from the local park to the hills and rolling countryside with her dad, family and friends. Jodie lived by the motto live, laugh, love and she did all of these on a daily basis.”

Emma, 38, added: “She formed beautiful friendships wherever she went, being the kindest person in the room and always laughing.

“Her family stretched beyond blood, with friendships that turned into family, sharing holidays and celebrations together. Family was her life, and her life was family.”

Emma has since helped set up a GoFundMe page for her sister and her family to help with funeral costs.

She said: “We have made the decision to set up this page for Jodie’s partner, James/Jammy, and their little boy, Zakary, to help them out at this very difficult time.”

The fundraiser started with a goal of £2,500 but has now reached more than £19,000.

To donate to the cause, visit Gofundme and search for Jodie Green.

Emma said she was left speechless looking at how much money had been donated.

She said: “As a family, we are touched beyond words and will be eternally grateful to all.

“We view this as a mark of respect and confirmation of just how many lives Jodie has touched and find a warmth beyond words that helps to ease our heartbreak and deepest sorrow. Jodie will be loved forever.”
