Was ChatGPT down? Outage data showed spike

ChatGPT, the OpenAI chatbot, was briefly down for thousands of users in the United States on Feb. 3, according to outage data.
The tracking website Downdetector showed a spike in issue reports at around 3:20 p.m. ET, hitting a peak of over 13,000 compared to a baseline of 19. Reports on the site fell to 3,722 just before 4 p.m. ET and fell under 1,000 reports just after. As of 6:30 p.m. ET, Downdetector shows less than 100 outage reports for the chatbot.
The site tracks outages by aggregating user-submitted reports from multiple sources. The actual number of affected users may differ from what’s shown on Downdetector as these reports are user-submitted.
