A Winnipeg elementary school has been evacuated after a threat, the River East Transcona School Division and police say Wednesday.
The school division said it contacted police “upon learning of a threat” at Bernie Wolfe School in Transcona on Wednesday morning.
The school was evacuated just as the day was about to begin, said the school division, which contacted Winnipeg police.
Police went to the school around 8:30 a.m. after a threat call was reported, police said.
Students walked to a designated evacuation site and classes were cancelled for the day.
No physical threats have been discovered at the school and there is no threat to public safety, said police, who are investigating.
“Next steps” are being communicated with affected students’ families, the school division said.
