Yes, the popular Battle Royale game officially went offline at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5 for a scheduled update.
Fortnite Status posted on X: “Love and Legends come together in February! Downtime for v39.40 begins at 4 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
When will Fortnite be back online?
The Fortnite Valentine’s Day event should be ready to play in a few hours. Updates usually last less than than two hours.

The South Park Born in Chaos event began on Jan. 9 and ends with this update.
Fortnite’s Chapter 7, Season 1 Pacific Break began on Nov. 29 following the mini Simpsons season. This season will run until March 4 and included the game’s annual Winterfest event over the holidays.
