Winter Olympics 2026 live updates: Today’s latest from the Games including hockey and curling

Let’s give you a quick wrap from yesterday’s action — the first day of competition at these Milan Cortina Games, even though we will have to wait until Friday for the opening ceremony.
It’s a similar deal with the summer Games too, where some of the longer events get started ahead of the flame arriving on site.
Wednesday was officially labelled “Day minus two” and it included official training runs for the men’s downhill ski and singles luge.
But it was on the rinks that the competitive stuff began, with the opening four matches of the curling mixed doubles round robin.
Sweden dominated South Korea (Republic of Korea) 10-3, while Great Britain pipped Norway on the final end for an 8-6 win.
Canada were more comfortable winners as they beat the Czech Republic 10-5, before Switzerland needed an extra end to beat Estonia 9-7.
Six of those eight teams are back in action again, right now …
