Each company in the JR Group will offer the “Seishun 18 Ticket” and the “Seishun 18 Ticket Hokkaido Shinkansen Option Ticket” for the winter season.

The “Seishun 18 Ticket” is a pass that allows unlimited rides on ordinary and rapid trains’ non-reserved ordinary cars on JR lines, BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), and the JR West Miyajima Ferry. The 5-day ticket can be used for 5 consecutive days, and the 3-day ticket for 3 consecutive days.

The price is 12,050 yen for the 5-day ticket and 10,000 yen for the 3-day ticket. The valid periods are from March 1 to April 10 for spring, from July 18 to September 8 for summer, and from December 11 to January 11, 2027 for winter. Sales begin on March 1, July 18, and November 27, respectively. Tickets are sold at major JR stations throughout Japan, JR travel centers, and travel agencies.

Although Shinkansen, limited express, and express trains cannot be used in principle, there are exceptions: passengers may use vacant reserved seats in ordinary cars on limited express trains between Shintoku and Shinyubari stations on the Sekisho Line and between Higashi-Muroran and Muroran stations on the Muroran Line, and may use non-reserved ordinary cars between Aomori and Shin-Aomori stations on the Ou Main Line, between Haiki and Sasebo stations on the Sasebo Line, and between Miyazaki Airport and Miyazaki stations on the Miyazaki Airport Line. In addition, pass-through travel is permitted on the Aoimori Railway between Aomori and Hachinohe stations, Ainokaze Toyama Railway between Toyama and Kurikara stations, IR Ishikawa Railway between Kurikara and Tsubata stations, and Hapi-Line Fukui between Echizen-Hanando and Tsuruga stations.

When using non-reserved Green Cars on ordinary or rapid trains, a Green Car ticket is required; when using reserved seats in ordinary cars on ordinary or rapid trains, a reserved seat ticket is required; and when using “Home Liner” and other liner trains, a boarding ticket or liner ticket must be purchased separately.

By purchasing the “Seishun 18 Ticket Hokkaido Shinkansen Option Ticket,” which can be used together with the Seishun 18 Ticket to access part of the Hokkaido Shinkansen section, passengers can travel on the Hokkaido Shinkansen between Shin-Aomori and Kikonai stations, and on the South Hokkaido Railway between Kikonai and Goryokaku stations. The price is 4,650 yen.
