‘Rivals’ Season 2 Trailer: Disney+’s “Naughtiest Show On Television” Is Back For More

“Welcome to the naughtiest show on television.”

It could only be Disney+’s Rivals Season 2, which dropped trailer this afternoon and will launch May 15.

The trailer sees the return of all the favorites from the first series, with David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson and Emily Atack reprising roles along with Alex Hassell, one of the standouts from Season 1. Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett have joined the cast for the upcoming season.

In Season 2 of one of Disney+’s biggest international shows, the battle for the Central South West television franchise reaches a fever pitch as the war between Corinium and Venturer enters a dangerous new phase. More ruthless than ever, Tony Baddingham (Tennant) is determined to dismantle his rivals piece-by-piece, weaponising scandal and manipulating those closest to him to maintain his grip on power.

Amidst the hedonistic glamour of 1980s excess, the personal lives of our Rutshire heroes spiral into chaos.

Rivals Season 2, a Hulu original which airs on Disney+ outside the States, launches May 15 and will drop in two six-episode batches.

Since the first season concluded, Jilly Cooper, author of the original source material who was an EP on Season 1, has sadly died. Tributes came flooding in and Cooper’s friend Queen Camilla visited the set of Season 2.

Produced by ITV Studios-owned Happy Prince, Rivals is executive produced by Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Alexander Lamb, Felicity Blunt, Elliot Hegarty, Olivier Award-winning playwright Laura Wade, Cooper and for Disney+, Jonny Richards. Eliza Mellor returns as series producer. It is written by Treadwell-Collins, Wade, Sophie Goodhart, Sam Hoare, Mimi Hare, Clare Naylor, Sorcha Kurien-Walsh and Dare Aiyegbayo, directed by Elliot Hegarty, Jamie J Johnson and Dee Koppang O’Leary. Rivals is based on the novel of the same name, part of Cooper’s bestselling Rutshire Chronicles. The series was commissioned by VP Scripted Content for Disney+ EMEA, Lee Mason.
