Taylor Momsen gets candid on a ‘Grinch’ sequel with Jim Carrey

Where are you sequel?

In 2000, at just seven years old, Taylor Momsen starred as Cindy Lou Who opposite Jim Carrey’s green grinch in the classic holiday film “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

But fans might not see the cast reunite for a sequel any time soon, with the actress, 32, exclusively telling The Post that nothing is in the works.

“Not that I know of,” she said while attending Steven Tyler’s 7th annual Jam of Janie Grammys watch party on Sunday.

“Some things don’t touch,” Momsen added. “Timeless classic. It’s lasted this long.”

However, in November, the artist did tease the idea of a possible second project.

“When Jim Carrey asks you to do something, you pay attention so we’ll see,” Momsen told Entertainment Tonight.

The co-stars had just reunited at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at the time.

“So crazy,” she reminisced to the outlet, adding that the last time she saw Carrey, 64, was 25 years ago. “The whole thing is so crazy. When Matt Cameron told me that, my head about blew up. The odds of that are one in a billion. The whole thing is crazy.”

Momsen and her band The Pretty Reckless re-recorded “Where Are You Christmas?” in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary in December.

“’Pretty Reckless Christmas’ started as just one song, but the moment we got into the studio, it took on a life of its own,” she said in a statement at the time. “There was so much emotion, nostalgia and chaos wrapped up in it that it didn’t feel right to leave it standing alone. To really honor it, I needed to build a whole world around it. That’s how this project became a full body of work — something bigger, deeper and far more personal than I ever expected.”

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in November, Momsen further elaborated about the tune.

“As a kid, when I found out Cindy was going to sing in the movie, I don’t think I’d ever been so excited. I loved singing, and I had just started writing songs around that time. I didn’t realize what a huge impact getting to go into the studio would have on my life,” she explained. “It was my first studio training, where a producer was giving me tricks of the trade. It’s where I fell in love with the recording studio, and to this day, the recording studio is my favorite place in the world to be.”

In honor of the classic’s 25th anniversary, Momsen divulged some behind-the-scenes secrets.

“It was this real sled that was up on a giant spring that was being controlled and moving from side to side, very aggressively,” she told Vulture. “Jim is leaning over and being extravagant Jim. There was a moment where I almost fell out of the sled, and he freaked out. He called cut and started checking in on me.”

Momsen, meanwhile, was not nearly as “freaked out” as the actor was.

“I was having a great time,” she said. “I was laughing; I wasn’t thinking about the fact that I just almost fell very high off the ground.”

Momsen also recalled the comedian being “incredibly protective” of her on set.

“That’s what I remember,” she explained. “Jim was very, very protective of me on set as a person, as a kid, always looking out for me, checking in, making sure I was okay, because he was very animated, very over the top.”

“I always felt really safe with Jim,” she gushed. “I liked being around him.”

Carrey weighed in on possibly reprising his role in 2024. “Everywhere I go, ‘Are you gonna make the ‘Grinch,’ ‘Are you gonna make the ‘Grinch.’ It makes me so angry,” he teased to Extra. “I must find a way to stop sequels from coming!”
