Antwerp man kidnapped and driven to motorway service area in Luxembourg

On Sunday evening witnesses reported seeing a man being dragged into a car on the Theaterplein in the centre of Antwerp. In the early hours of Monday morning the Antwerp Federal Judicial Police Service informed their colleagues in Luxembourg about the kidnapping after the car had been spotted close to the border with Luxembourg.
At around 4am on Monday morning Luxembourg police found the vehicle at the Capellen motorway service station. The 31-year-old victim was freed and 4 suspects detained.
Kristof Aerts of the Antwerp Prosecutor’s Office told VRT News that “All motorway car parks were being watched and that is how the car was spotted. In the meantime, it had been given a Luxembourg numberplate”.
Mr Aerts added that the prosecutor’s offers has started proceedings to ensure that the suspects are returned to Belgium. The Luxembourg police say that the victim knew 1 of the 4 suspects.
