Avengers: Doomsday will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes coming together with the X-Men, as several stars are set to return from the Fox era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe team-up film. While multiple mutants are part of the Avengers: Doomsday story, one missing hero is Storm, who was part of the original trilogy.
In an interview with ScreenRant’s own Todd Gilchrist for Crime 101, Halle Berry spoke about her Marvel legacy as Storm in Fox’s X-Men films, and the fact that she isn’t coming back for Avengers: Doomsday. When asked how gratifying it has been to see the outpouring of affection for the mutants ahead of their upcoming reunion this December, Berry stated, “Yeah, I love that. Storm is a very special character to me. I’ve been so blessed when I gotten to play her.”
She elaborated by adding how “I think the whole world of the X-Men and being mutants and outcasts. And there’ve been movies that I’ve been proud to have my children watch. They have so much to say that I thought has been really important, especially for my children as they’ve grown. So they’re beloved.” While not being part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, Berry teased, “And while I’m sad I won’t be in Doomsday this round, there are other rounds. And I would do that in a heartbeat.”
In terms of “other rounds,” it’s possible that she could be hinting at being part of the Avengers: Doomsday reshoots, as various cast members will be undergoing additional photography this spring with Joe and Anthony Russo. However, it’s key to remember that Marvel stars are known for having to keep upcoming appearances a secret from the press when asked in interviews, meaning they sometimes have to pretend they aren’t involved.
It also wouldn’t be too shocking if Berry’s Storm is one of the secret appearances, similar to how Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey will reportedly be in Avengers: Doomsday, despite the actor denying that she is part of it. Kevin Feige has previously stated that there are other characters that have yet to be revealed, and that could include more X-Men players.
However, there is also one other upcoming Marvel movie that she could be taking part in, which is Avengers: Secret Wars, which is scheduled to kick off principal photography this summer. Since the full cast for the Phase 6 finale has yet to be revealed, Berry’s Storm could always be getting her due in that installment.
Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters on December 18.
Crime 101 is slated to release on February 13.
