Milano Cortina 2026: Day 0 Olympic events to watch, full schedule

The opening ceremony highlights the first official day of Milano Cortina 2026 on Friday.
But several other events will take place before the Olympic cauldron is lit in two locations.
Here are athletes and teams to watch, along with the full Day 0 schedule (all times Eastern):
Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier
The Canadian ice dancers take to the ice for the first portion of figure skating’s team event. Gilles and Poirier have won two silver and two bronze medals at the world championships.
After a postponement because of inclement weather on Thursday, another women’s downhill training run is scheduled for Friday. That could give fans the first opportunity to see the American star in action since revealing she tore her ACL last month in a crash. Vonn, 41, still plans to compete at the Games.
Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant
The Canadian mixed doubles curling team is 3-0 after sweeping games against Norway and Italy on Thursday. An early clash with the Americans is the lone game for the Canadian husband-and-wife squad on Friday.
