‘Hightown’s Jona Xiao To Guest Star On HBO Max’s ‘The Pitt’ Season 2

EXCLUSIVE: Jona Xiao (Hightown, Raya and the Last Dragon) has landed a guest-starring role in HBO Max‘s hit medical drama The Pitt, from creator R. Scott Gemmill and producer John Wells. She will play OB Nurse Sam Garvin.
The Pitt chronicles the urgent challenges U.S. frontline healthcare professionals face through the lens of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. Offering a real-time format, the series traces, hour by hour, the medical cases and personal crises physicians and nurses must navigate as they reckon with an overabundance of patients and a lack of resources.
Season 2 is set 10 months after the events of the Season 1 finale and takes place over Fourth of July weekend. New episodes drop every Thursday until the conclusion of the season on April 16.
So far in Season 2, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) has been working hard on the Saturday of the Fourth of July weekend, his last shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center before he is to go on a three-month sabbatical. He is excited about being able to take some time, riding his motorcycle to the Canadian province of Alberta. Whether or not this will happen for him is as yet unknown. However, he already has two doctors ready to serve as attendings in his absence: Season 2 newbie Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi) and Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy), with the former bringing more opinions about how the ED is run than Robby would like.
Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball) is back after rehab, and it hasn’t been smooth sailing, especially as it pertains to his working relationship with Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones). However, he has Dana Evans (Katherina LaNasa) on his side, and that’s a powerful alliance to have. The hospital has tended to some unique cases this season, with more yet to be revealed.
In addition to the aforementioned cast, The Pitt also stars Shawn Hatosy, Taylor Dearden, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez and Gerran Howell. New Season 2 additions include Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laëtitia Hollard, Lucas Iverson, Lawrence Robinson, Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley and Jeff Kober in recurring roles.
Xiao is best known for her performances in Raya and the Last Dragon, CW’s The Flash, Starz’s Hightown, the Korean drama The Glory, and, most recently, as the Iron Fist in Disney+ & Marvel’s animated series Eyes of Wakanda. She is repped by Industry Entertainment and Global Artist Agency.
