Rams hiring former Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury

Kingsbury joins the Rams in an undisclosed role on Sean McVay’s coaching staff

As Sean McVay assembles his coaching staff for 2026, there will be at least one new face on the sidelines. According to reports, the Los Angeles Rams are hiring Kliff Kingsbury to join their staff this season.

His role appears to be undisclosed at the moment, but he will be a member of the Rams’ coaching staff in some capacity this coming year.

McVay and Kingsbury are good friends and had talked about working on the same staff years ago before he even became the Cardinals’ head coach. McVay tried to hire Kingsbury as an offensive assistant for the stretch run during the Rams’ 2018 Super Bowl run but it never came to fruition.

Now, they’ll link up as fellow coaches on the Rams’ staff.

According to Peter Schrager of ESPN, McVay and Kingsbury had been speaking for the last two weeks and there’s mutual excitement about this partnership.

The Rams are still looking for an offensive coordinator after Mike LaFleur was hired as the Cardinals’ next head coach, but whoever gets that job will have a former head coach and offensive coordinator working alongside him.

Most recently, Kingsbury was the Commanders’ offensive coordinator from 2024-2025 but he and the team mutually agreed to part ways this offseason.
