Natalia Dyer Joins ‘Goodbye Girl’ Movie With At Amazon MGM (Exclusive)

EXCLUSIVE: Following the conclusion of Stranger Things, Natalia Dyer has found her first new project in Goodbye Girl, the Amazon MGM Studios rom-com we revealed this week starring Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse.

Hailing from Gulfstream Pictures, which has previously released four films with Amazon MGM, the film enters production in New Orleans this week.

Directed by Oran Zegman (Paramount+’s Honor Society), Goodbye Girl follows Jess (Shipka), who’s a professional heartbreaker. Literally. When she’s hired by a cowardly bride to dump her groom (Sprouse) days before their wedding, she not only fumbles the job … but falls hopelessly in love. No word on the role to be played by Dyer.

The script was written by Danielle Hoover and David Monahan, based on a story by Hoover, Monahan and Jessica Elbaum. Mike Karz and William Bindley of Gulfstream provided some financing and are producing, alongside Dawn Bierschwal and Ryan Lewis of The RAD Lab and Daniel Wagner.

Dyer starred as Nancy Wheeler in all five seasons of Stranger Things, a cultural phenomenon whose final installment garnered 59.6 million views in its first five days, setting a record at Netflix with the best premiere-week viewership for an English-language series. Season 5 also shattered a Nielsen record, surpassing the achievement of Season 4’s debut week with 8.46 billion viewing minutes. Season 5 of Stranger Things now ranks as the service’s fourth-most-popular English-language series of all time.

Prior credits for Dyer included Peacock’s Based on a True Story, along with films like Velvet Buzzsaw and Yes, God, Yes. She is repped by WME, Circle Management + Production, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
