The Olympic Flame illuminates Milan, with the grand finale on February 6th: here’s where the Olympic torch relay will pass

On Thursday, February 5th, Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Torch Relay completed its 60th stage, traversing the Milanese hinterland to reach the heart of the Lombard capital. This symbolic journey connected the suburbs and historic center, uniting territories and communities in a grand Olympic celebration.

The relay begins in Sesto San Giovanni.

The day began in the morning in Sesto San Giovanni, where the relay started with the enthusiasm of the first torchbearers. ​​The convoy then passed through Cologno Monzese, Vimodrone, and Segrate, accompanying the Flame along a route that showcased the vitality and diversity of the metropolitan area.

A particularly significant moment of the stage was dedicated to the torchbearers’ passage outside and inside the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena, the venue for the Olympic ice hockey and para ice hockey competitions, a symbol of the Games’ sporting and infrastructural legacy in the area.

Late in the morning, the Flame arrived in Pioltello, then continued to the headquarters of Eni, the Presenting Partner of the Olympic Flame Journey, in San Donato Milanese.

Entering Milan

From here, the journey entered the heart of Milan, passing through iconic landmarks such as Sant’Ambrogio, Sforza-Policlinico, Bolivar, Piazza Wagner, Porta Venezia, and Piazza San Babila, before reaching Piazza Duomo, showcasing the city’s dynamic, contemporary, and international identity.

The relay also passed by Tre Torri, located in the City Life district, a symbol of Milan’s forward-looking architecture, innovation, and sustainability.

The conclusion in Piazza Duomo

The day concluded in Piazza Duomo, where the evening lighting of the Olympic cauldron created a moment of great celebration and collective participation, marking the upcoming opening of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, scheduled for February 6, 2026, with the Opening Ceremony at the San Siro Stadium.
