Lee Hendrie fears Morgan Rogers might not be an Aston Villa player next season – but thinks he will become England’s most expensive footballer.

After a sluggish start to the season, in which he was ironically applauded by his own supporters, Rogers has rediscovered his form and provided nine goal contributions in his last 13 Premier League games.

Indeed he has played so well for both club and country, Hendrie thinks the 23-year-old will have such a good World Cup he will once again have plenty of options in the summer.

But the former Villa midfielder thinks it could take £150million to prise Rogers away from Villa.

Speaking exclusively on the Footy Accumulators No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, in partnership with BOYLE Sports, Hendrie said: “I think Villa will lose him next season.

“Not that I want him to leave, but top players, if they’re not competing in the Champions League and they’re not competing for titles, that’s where they end up moving away. If you can’t add to that quality, then, unfortunately, you’re going to end up losing those players. And that’s the fact of football.

“There was a lot of speculation in the summer about him going to maybe Chelsea or Arsenal. He’s a young, talented international. You look at him in an England shirt and Tuchel absolutely adores what he brings because he’s got physicality. He’s the modern-day footballer.

“He brings creativity, strength, and he can play all across that three that plays behind a centre-forward. He’s just a talented individual and a clever, clever individual at that. I’ve had conversations with him, and he speaks well. You can tell he’s got that dedication where he wants to go and be a top player.

“And credit to him because he’s had to come away and then rethink, reshuffle, as lots of younger players do. He’s taken that step back to come forward. You’ve got to be putting him around 125 million or maybe even 150 million if he continues doing what he’s doing.”
