Winter Olympics 2026: Su Yiming exclusive – “Snowboarding is ready for the big screen”

Su’s journey to Olympic gold on home snow, and the struggles he’s experienced since, are equally script-worthy.
Following the high of Beijing 2022, the then 17-year-old suffered several injuries and struggled to cope with his fame, resulting in a loss of motivation and a break from the sport.
However, armed with a new outlook on competition and fire in his belly, Su sealed slopestyle silver at the 2025 World Championships in Engadin, Switzerland, meaning all eyes will be on the Chinese star again at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
“I was lost after the Olympics because I was just a kid and didn’t know what was going on. I’m really happy to have rested and got my competition mentality back. The most important thing I’ve learnt is never to lose the feeling of the first time you try the sport, the excitement. You can’t always chase wins because feelings are just as important. Now I’m feeling good and looking to challenge for another big goal in the sport,” Su said.
“I want one more, or maybe I’m trying for two more Olympic gold medals in big air and slopestyle. That is my biggest dream for now, and it is the best way for me.”
